NEW - Barco 'Balder' Projector - ISE Launch Feb 2017

NEW - Barco 'Balder' Projector

Barco showed a  further new residential projector at the Feb 2017 ISE show. The Genesis Technologies' VIP lounge in Audio Demo Room E108 featured several Barco Residential technologies including the 4K Barco Wodan and brand-new 4K UHD, laser phosphor projector, Barco Balder.

This projector is based on the 'Loki' platform but uses a single phosphor laser instead of the dual contained in the 'Loki'.

The Barco Balder CinemaScope has been enhanced with Ultra HD CinemaScope technology. This projector delivers the finest Ultra-high resolution Cinemascope HDR10 compatible pixels on screen. It’s driven by a new single laser light engine and optical design that’s derived from our higher-end Loki range. This means a reduced maximum brightness output at 3500 Lumes (T Version) but far more suitable for residential installations for screen sizes up to 3.9m.

Professional-grade optics

By basing Balder’s cinemascope optical engine on it’s bigger brother Loki’s CS architecture, custom designed aspherical glass elements and enhanced low dispersion glass lenses, image quality is in a class of its own. To top that, Balder CS’s frame and core is built in Aluminium, 37kg of pure quality. the result is the best picture quality ever shown at this level.

State-of-the-art electronics

All new “Pulse” electronics have been designed to process 4K with HDMI 2.0a and HDCP 2.2 and the optical engine is utilising the very latest 0,9-inch DMD DLP chipset, delivering 5,120 x 2,160 pixels on screen.

Cinemascope

Balder CS has a unique automatic aspect ratio detection function. It will look for 2.40:1 content
and automatically scale the image to fit the 5120x2160 resolution and of course change back to 16:9 (3840x2160) if you have content in that format. It will also change aspect ratio when a
2.40:1 format movie has a menu’s outside the active picture frame. You can also switch manually between the different formats.

Liquid cooling

Balder CS has departed from a pure fan based cooling system to a liquid cooling PID regulation system, allowing Balder to operate in any angle.
